Computer Recognizes Attractiveness In Women

“Beauty,” goes the old saying, “is in the eye of the beholder.” But does the beholder have to be human?

Not necessarily, say scientists at Tel Aviv University. Amit Kagian, an M.Sc. graduate from the TAU School of Computer Sciences, has successfully “taught” a computer how to interpret attractiveness in women.

But there’s a more serious dimension to this issue that reaches beyond mere vanity. The discovery is a step towards developing artificial intelligence in computers. Other applications for the software could be in plastic and reconstructive surgery and computer visualization programs such as face recognition technologies.

Woman Sues For Lost Virginity

A Malaysian woman is suing her husband for nearly a million dollars (about R8-million) over the loss of her virginity.

The New Straits Times said the 30-year-old teacher is claiming 3-million ringgit ($941 000) in damages for false promises over their marriage, which collapsed after her in-laws disapproved.

It said the pair consummated their relationship after dating for a few months, then legally registered their marriage, but they never went through the customary Chinese marriage rites.

Chinese Man Eaten By Zoo Tiger

A tiger devoured a mentally ill man who entered the animal’s zoo cage in northeast China.

Zhang Yachun disappeared from his home in Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang province, on March 24 and five days later police told his parents he had been eaten by a tiger in a nearby zoo, the China news service reported, citing a Harbin newspaper.

“Only two legs and his skull were left,” the report said. Zhang’s grieving parents said their 37-year-old son suffered mental illness and “especially loved tigers”.

China has a poor record of keeping people away from dangerous zoo and circus animals.

Good Sexual Intercourse Lasts Minutes, Not Hours

Satisfactory sexual intercourse for couples lasts from 3 to 13 minutes, contrary to popular fantasy about the need for hours of sexual activity, according to a survey of U.S. and Canadian sex therapists.

Penn State Erie researchers Eric Corty and Jenay Guardiani conducted a survey of 50 full members of the Society for Sex Therapy and Research, which include psychologists, physicians, social workers, marriage/family therapists and nurses who have collectively seen thousands of patients over several decades.

Thirty-four, or 68 percent, of the group responded and rated a range of time amounts for sexual intercourse, from penetration of the vagina by the penis until ejaculation, that they considered adequate, desirable, too short and too long.
