Woman Auctions Herself With Her Ferrari
BERLIN (Reuters) - A woman living in Germany is auctioning off her red Ferrari Enzo sports car and including a little extra in the package - herself.
The 26-year-old has invited bids on Internet auction site ebay starting at 1.25 million euros ($1.6 million). She said she was rich herself, liked her car and was looking for a man who could foot the bill for such a luxury.
“Only a millionaire could afford such a car,” said the woman, who gave her name as Leila and said she once worked as a singer in Syria. “I want a man who doesn’t like me just for my money.”
Leila said she would meet with interested bidders but would need to see the bidder’s passport and proof of capital. No bids have been made yet in the auction which ends in a week.

Woman's Ex Sends Severed Finger In The Mail
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas Texas officials are seeking a woman’s ex-boyfriend, after the mail brought her a severed finger and the message, “This is my last chance to touch you.”
Corpus Christi police say they’re not sure which finger it was or how it was cut off. But they say it “wasn’t mangled” and was apparently washed before it was mailed Friday.
The woman had filed for an emergency protective order from the man last week.
Police say the man faces misdemeanor charges from a previous report of family violence this month. The threatening letter could bring more charges.

Man With Faulty Penile Implant Gets $400K
A former handyman has won more than $400,000 in a lawsuit over a penile implant that gave him a 10-year erection.
Charles “Chick” Lennon, 68, received the steel and plastic implant in 1996, about two years before Viagra went on the market. The Dura-II is designed to allow impotent men to position the penis upward for sex, then lower it.
But Lennon could not position his penis downward. He said he could no longer hug people, ride a bike, swim or wear bathing trunks because of the pain and embarrassment. He has become a recluse and is uncomfortable being around his grandchildren, his lawyer said.

Mobile Phone Users Warned Of Lightning Strike Risk
LONDON - People should not use mobile phones outdoors during thunderstorms because of the risk of being struck by lightning, doctors said Friday.
They reported the case of a 15-year-old girl who was using her phone in a park when she was hit during a storm. Although she was revived, she suffered persistent health problems and was using a wheelchair a year after the accident.
“This rare phenomenon is a public health issue, and education is necessary to highlight the risk of using mobile phones outdoors during stormy weather to prevent future fatal consequences from lighting strike injuries,” said Swinda Esprit, a doctor at Northwick Park Hospital in England. CRANBURY, N.J. - With sweat pouring down his face, a 42-year-old courier from Moonachie methodically gobbled 22 hot dogs in 12 minutes Friday to win a regional hot-eating competition and a slot at Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July eating contest in Coney Island, N.Y.
Pat Philbin, known in the competitive eating circuit as “Pat from Moonachie,” beat 12 veterans and newcomers to competitive eating to be crowned the New Jersey Turnpike Regional Hot-Dog Eating Champion at a highway rest area.

China Passes Death Sentence For Tattoo Abuse
SHANGHAI - A Chinese man has been sentenced to death for scratching insults across the bodies of three women with a needle dipped in ink, the Shanghai Daily reported on Friday.
But the court gave 44-year old Zhou Jingzhi, from northeastern Jilin, a two-year reprieve, meaning his sentence could be commuted to life imprisonment for good behaviour after two years in jail, the report said.
In April 2004, Zhou met a woman identified as Li who after they had lived together for a year and a half wanted to leave him.
“Zhou illegally detained her at his residence for three months, and dipped a sewing needle in ink and carved across her body more than 100 Chinese character, describing her as a prostitute,” the report said.
After Li’s family rescued her, Zhou’s ex-wife and another ex-girlfriend came forward to say that he had abused them the same way.

Man's Bottle Message Found After His Death
ANTIGO, Wis. - Years after casting a bottled-up note into a lake for a class project and just one year after his death, a man’s childhood message has been found and returned to his mother.
Eleven years ago, a then 10-year-old Joshua Baker wrote the message nestled in an empty vanilla container, his mother, Maggie Holbrook said. He died last February following a motor vehicle accident in California. He had recently returned home after serving in the Middle East as a U.S. Marine.
“I think he was just letting us know he was OK and to keep doing what we are doing,” Holbrook said.
The message surfaced in White Lake in late April, just days after the 11th anniversary of its casting. It was found by one of Baker’s closest friends, Steve Lieder, of Antigo, she said. Lieder and two friends were chatting near the lake when they looked down and saw the bottle. They broke it open and found the note inside:
“My name is Josh Baker. I am 10. If you find this put it on the news. The date is 4/16/95.”

West Vancouver, British Columbia - A West Vancouver woman felt a little like Goldilocks in reverse when she arrived home to find a bear happily eating oatmeal in her kitchen.

Deer Gets Inside House, Attacks Ohio Woman
BROADVIEW HEIGHTS, Ohio - A 75-year-old northeast Ohio woman is recovering from injuries she received this week when a deer got into her home and attacked her.
Mary Blake of suburban Cleveland opened her patio door Wednesday to let her border collie back inside and was shocked when a female deer followed close behind.
Blake says she tried to shut the door, but the deer knocked it off track and then knocked into Blake and started stomping her.
Blake frantically called police as the deer damaged her walls, furniture and some keepsakes.
Two police officers arrived and were able to coax the deer outside.
Blake was treated at the hospital for bruises and cuts on her arms, legs and stomach. She has 27 stitches on her right knee.

Karate Teacher Sentenced For Attacking Girls
A northern Virginia karate teacher has been sentenced to six years in prison for breaking into a townhouse and attacking 10-year-old twin sisters.
A Fairfax County judge sentenced Andrew Jacobs Friday after he apologized to the victims’ family in court. He had pleaded guilty in February.
Jacobs originally said he broke into the home to steal electronics and other valuables. But prosecutors said Friday that Jacobs was upset that the two girls had stopped taking karate classes.
Police say the girls were able to struggle with Jacobs long enough to wake up their parents, who smashed a lamp over his head.
They were able to pull back his ski mask to get a look at him.

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. - A Brooksville man is facing charges after prank calling two hotels more than 170 times. According to a police report, 32-year-old David Shawn Hill called the Quality Inn and Rodeway Inn in Fort Walton Beach 176 times in June 2005.
The report said that during the calls he made sexual comments to clerks.
Hill’s justification? He reportedly told officers he was “bored and stupid.”
Hill turned himself in to authorities over the weekend and faces misdemeanor charges.

8-Foot Alligator Captured After Stroll Along Beachside Sidewalk
INDIALANTIC, Fla. - An 8-foot alligator was removed from a beachside sidewalk popular with joggers and dog-walkers after catching the eye of a man who waved down a Brevard County sheriff’s deputy.
“It was kind of a shock to see an alligator. It wasn’t aggressive, at least not until the alligator trapper showed up,” sheriff’s Sgt. Scott Behringer said.
Behringer, who helped lift the alligator into the trapper’s truck, said it was also unusual to see one that size on the beachside.

CLEVELAND - An 11-month-old is awaiting surgery at MetroHealth Medical Center after having her ear cut off.
Thursday evening, Cleveland police received a call from a woman saying her child’s father beat her up, and then ran off with the baby.
Soon after, the man showed up at the Huron Road hospital, saying that the mother cut the child’s ear off.
Investigators say the mother took a large kitchen knife and cut a large part of the 11-month-old’s ear off.
Tonya Edwards, 35, was arrested for felonious assault, child endangering and domestic violence.
The child was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center by lifeflight helicopter where he is awaiting plastic surgery.

Woman Attacks Dog Breeder With Dead Chihuahua
CHICAGO, United States - A Missouri woman has been arrested for breaking into a dog breeder’s home and beating her repeatedly over the head with a dead Chihuahua.
The woman was upset because the puppy had died, police told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch newspaper.
The woman, whose name was being withheld pending charges, said a veterinarian had told her the puppy she’d bought was just four weeks old and needed to be returned to its mother.

A man shouting that God would keep him safe was mauled to death by a lioness in Kiev zoo after he crept into the animal’s enclosure, a zoo official said on Monday.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Residents of a Miami-Dade neighborhood found an unwelcome new resident had moved into their area this week: a 360-pound, 11-foot American crocodile.
Veteran trapper Todd Hardwick captured the crocodile earlier this week. He said the creature is the biggest crocodile he had ever seen in urban Miami-Dade County.
The endangered American crocodile was relocated Thursday instead of being destroyed.

A Spanish court has ruled that dogs should not be treated like children with allocated visiting rights when it comes to divorce cases.

A London man has won the right to keep a leopard in a cage in his back garden.
Todd Dalton had been banned by Southwark Council from keeping a clouded leopard in a cage in Peckham, reports the BBC.
But Tower Bridge magistrates overturned the decision after a vet deemed the 12ft cages were “suitable” for the animals.
Neighbours had opposed Mr Dalton’s bid fearing the animals could escape and pose a threat to pets and even people.
Southwark Council said it was disappointed with the ruling.
