Middle Tennesseans easily broke the Halloween world record for largest gathering of people in Halloween costumes during an I Run for the Party 5K run and walk in Nashville.
More than 1,000 participants came in Halloween costume, but only 350 qualified for the Guinness World Records by wearing traditional scary costumes.
The previous record was only 63.

The 43-year-old, ranked the heaviest man alive by the Guinness Book of Records, married his girlfriend of two years, Claudia Solis, from his reinforced bed.
‘I am proof that you can find love in any circumstances. It’s all a question of faith,’ said Mr Uribe as he was wheeled out of his mother’s house to the tow truck which took him to the Club de Leones in Monterrey, North Mexico.
Ten burly men provided the muscle to help his journey.

Cows Are Killed After Lightning Hits A Wire Fence
A veterinary expert who examined the carcases said the cows had been killed by lightning hitting the wire fence bordering the field where the animals were stood. The incident occurred in Valdez Chico, near Montevideo, Uruguay.
In September, 53 cows were killed by lightning in Katosi, Uganda. They had been seeking shelter underneath trees, according to local reports.
Lightning hits the earth an average 100 times per second, or 8.6 million times a day.

Police say she illegally accessed login details of the man playing her virtual husband, and killed off his character.
The woman, a piano teacher, is in jail in Sapporo waiting to learn if she faces charges of illegally accessing a computer and manipulating data. If charged with the offences, and convicted, she faces up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000.

This horse got its head stuck in the tree and could have been in danger if not for a passer-by who was able to come to the rescue after he heard the horse whinnying .
Jason Harschbarger, from the town of Pullman, West Virginia, USA, arrived at the scene which resembled the image of Winnie the Pooh getting stuck in the honey tree.
He collected his tools and was able to carefully set the horse free by using a chainsaw to slowly cut the wood around its neck. However, before he did so, he was able to take a few pictures.

An American man has broken the world record for holding the most cockroaches in his mouth, after keeping 11 of them in his mouth.
Travis Fessler, 35, held them in his mouth for ten seconds to smash the previous record of nine Madagascan Hissing Cockroaches, according to US media.
He said of the attempt: ‘One of them tried to crawl down my throat. ‘That made me gag quite badly. It was difficult not to be sick but I held it in and saw it through to the end.’
He said he did not want to swallow any of them because he is a vegetarian.

When two white tiger cubs were born during a hurricane they had to be separated from their mother after their sanctuary flooded. However they have since found an unlikely surrogate mother in chimpanzee Anjana, who has taken on the role of caring for the cubs.

A female zoo owner in Germany was rescued at the weekend by colleagues after a 12 foot long python began trying to swallow her. enate Klosse became the prey for Tiger python Antonia, 24, at the reptile zoo she runs at Uhldingen near Stuttgart.
The nine-stone snake with 70 sharp teeth attacked Renate as she cleaned out her cage. ‘The jaws of the snake opened so wide that, with one lunge, she was able to completely cover the woman’s face,’ said a police spokeswoman.
‘She feared that with a few more gulps her head would be inside.’ Renate instinctively stuck her thumbs into the jawbone of the snake to try to get it to relieve its pressure.
Colleagues then sprayed water hoses on to it and it finally slithered off.

Police in Nizhny Novgorod arrested Ivan Volokov, 31, after he tore up ex-wife Anna’s passport and then ate all the pieces.
A police spokesman said: “They had just got divorced but the couple remained living in the same flat.
“He wanted to destroy the passport as it was the woman’s only official document which proved she had the right to stay living in the house.”
Volokov has been charged with destroying official documents and threatening behaviour.

The world’s fattest man announced he is getting married, after losing nearly half his weight. Manuel Uribe, 43, holds the record for the world’s fattest man in the 2007 Guinness Book of Records.
The Mexican man said he had lost weight from 590 kg (1,300 lbs) to 260 kg (572 lbs) since February, reports the Daily News.
Manuel Uribe will marry a widow named Claudia, on October 26 in his hometown of Monterrey, northern Mexico.
“It will be a big wedding, on a large scale, but with a low-calorie banquet,” he said.
The Mexican reached his Guinness record weight in 2007 after years of a diet of pizza and tacos.

Controller Sleeps As Plane Stays In Air
Pilots of two airplanes trying to land were forced to circle in the air for 40 minutes because the controller at the airport had fallen asleep.
The two planes flying in from Greece were attempting to land on the Greek island of Lesbos but couldn’t get in contact with the airport controller in order to land safely.
After several attempts, the airport’s secondary control service assisted the Olympic Airlines and Slovenian Airlines planes to safety.
The airport controller faces suspension after she fell asleep and was unable to help.
“They were calling the tower to get directions, but no one would answer,” a police official said. “The woman later said she overslept.”
