Chinese police got a surprise when they pulled over a brand new 4×4 for a routine check - the driver had no arms. Zing Shen, 42, was steering the vehicle with his feet and was amazed when officers decided issue him with a public safety summons. He told the traffic officers he had been driving like that for years after losing both arms below the elbows in an industrial accident.

An artist collected thousands of lost hub caps from roadsides across Britain and turned them into spectacular animal sculptures - worth up to £3,000. Ptolemy Elrington, 43, works full-time in his studio crafting shiny dolphins, dogs and dragons from all grades of hub cap - from BMW and Mercedes to Ford and Volvo. He fixes the caps together using wire salvaged from scrap yards and cuts them with a craft knife and hacksaw.

Kitten Born With Two Heads
The one-in-a-million grey and white mog can only use one of its two faces to eat because of a cleft palate.
But remarkably both of its mouths can miaow at the same time. The tiny kitten was born at the Swan Veterinary Clinic in Perth, Western Australia. Its mother had endured complications during the birth.
But veterinarian George Huber and his nurse, Louisa Burgess, successfully delivered the remarkable cat in a litter of three. The other two cats were born without deformities.

The Moller M400 Skycar is a four-seat craft which can unfold its wings in seconds and then soar through the air at up to 600kph (375mph) for a distance of 1,200km (750 miles). It is designed to be far simpler to fly than a helicopter and it boasts that its fuel consumption is lower than that of a Land Rover or Porsche.
The Skycar has cost its Californian developers a reported $200 million and is set to retail for $1 million when it goes on sale in 2012.
Cat Spends A Week Under Car's Hood
An Austrian motorist couldn’t work out why his Mercedes car was “purring” along better than normal - until he looked under the hood.
He discovered his neighbour’s terrified cat had been perched on the engine block for nearly a week.
The lucky cat had survived more than 300 miles of motoring without food or water before her mewing raised the alarm. The petrified puss had hidden so deep inside the engine that it had to be dismantled to get her out.
Amazingly she escaped with just some minor singes to her fur and is now back with her family in Ruprechtshofen, Austria, counting her eight remaining lives.

The bird dung crab spider (Phrynarachne sp.) not only looks like bird poo, but also acts like it (which involves little more than sitting still). But that’s not all. They’ll even sometimes spin a little patch of white silk for it to lay on, in mimicry of the white goo of bird guano. Some species of Phrynarachne even emit a smell that resembles feces or urine. All these factors allow for great opportunities to eat flies.

Police Helicopter Avoids Colliding With UFO
A police helicopter narrowly avoided colliding with a UFO over Birmingham, a report has claimed.
The pilot managed to swerve out of the mystery aircraft’s way while he was on a routine police surveillance task over the city centre earlier this year.
The helicopter was also carrying two police observers during the journey in May. All three reported seeing a strange aircraft with two continuous blue/green lights.
The incident is detailed in a document compiled by experts from the Airprox Board, which records near misses and reports them to the military and air traffic control units.
The report stated: “The front observer saw unidentified lights flying around their aircraft. The pilot established visual contact, as he manoeuvred the aircraft to avoid a collision and to identify the light source.”
The object was less than 100m away and flew around them.

Britain's Smallest Horse
A pony so tiny her owner can pick her up in her arms is laying claim to the title of Britain’s smallest horse. Lucy the four-year-old Shetland pony is just 19.5 inches tall and weighs around 100 pounds.
Her owner, Sandra Ponder, 63, who runs a veterinary surgery near St Albans, Herts, owns 14 miniature ponies in total. Lucy is still dwarfed by the group. Her ‘largest’ pet pony measures around 34 inches.
But the tiny pony loves galloping around the paddock with the larger horses in the stable. Lucy lives in a specially made stable that is so small it looks more like a children’s wendy house.

Jules - a disembodied androgynous robotic head - can automatically copy the movements, which are picked up by a video camera and mapped on to the tiny electronic motors in his skin. It can grin and grimace, furrow its brow and ’speak’ as his software translates real expressions observed through video camera eyes.

Woman Killed By Husband's Coffin
A woman in Brazil was killed on the way to her husband’s funeral when a traffic accident hurled his coffin against the back of her head.
Police say 67-year old Marciana Silva Barcelos was in the front passenger seat of the hearse when the accident occurred Monday in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul. Barcelos died instantly.
Her 76-year-old husband Josi Silveira Coimbra died on Sunday of a heart attack while dancing at a party.
The driver of hearse and Barcelos’ son suffered minor injuries.

World's Ugliest Dog Dies
A one-eyed, three-legged dog that won the title of world’s ugliest pooch this summer has died.
Gus, a hairless Chinese crested dog, succumbed to cancer after a long battle, according to The St. Petersburg Times in Florida. He was 9.
Gus was rescued from a bad home and went on to win the annual World’s Ugliest Dog contest at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in northern California.
Gus came from humble origins. According to the fair, his adopted family in Gulfport, Florida, rescued him after learning he was being kept in a crate inside someone’s garage.
He had one leg amputated because of a skin tumor, and lost an eye in a cat fight.

Man Gets Super-Glued to Public Toilet
A trip to the little boys room ended in disaster after a man became super-glued to a public toilet. A practical joke left the 35-year-old man helpless and unable to remove himself from the loo.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and did their best to un-stick the man, but even their efforts were not enough to set him free.
The toilet was then removed from the public cubicle near Dudley in the West Midlands, with the man still attached.
A paramedic said: “The man was using the facilities when he became stuck on the seat. It appears as though someone had left glue on it.”
Once at the hospital, doctors loosened the grip and freed the man using special chemicals, while still inside the ambulance. The flustered man was not injured but highly embarrassed after the incident.

Japanese Woman Calls Police 7177 Times
Police in Japan arrested a woman for making more than 7000 emergency telephone calls because an officer did not take her initial complaint seriously.
The 38-year-old was arrested on Tuesday on charges of obstructing police work, a police spokesman in western Osaka said.
She made 7177 calls during the day or night between September 14 and October 13 this year, sometimes shouting “drop dead’’ at police, he said.
The woman first called in 2005 to say she had been hit by a man, but the officer who answered her call “did not take the allegation seriously, because what she said was hard to understand”, he said. “She apparently had a grudge against police officials.”

The school in Gulu village, Sichuan province, lies halfway up a mountain and climbing up from the base takes five hours.
The elementary school has only one teacher who has been there for 26 years, reports the West China City Daily.
Villagers say going to school is very dangerous for the children, since the path is only 1ft 4ins wide at the narrowest point and has a sheer drop on one side.
Walking along the narrow, zigzagging path also makes the children feel dizzy, they say.
