Instead of enjoying her new marriage, Shonette Cummings-Jonas, of Golden Grove, East Coast Demerara, is now a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

She was reportedly manhandled and beaten with a piece of wood after she had launched a harsh verbal attack on the man. The cake decorator became angry and dealt the woman several lashes before she collapsed and had to be taken to the hospital.

Police have since taken him into custody at the Cove and John lockups.
