Gardener Phillip Vowles thought he was on to a winner when he dug up this monster marrow – only to find he’d been pipped to the world record by just one pound. The 61-year-old started growing the 50kg (112lb) vegetable just six weeks ago but when he checked online he found it was agonisingly short of the world record of 113lb.
