Cow Urine and Dung Have Health Benefits

NEW DELHI - India’s Hindu nationalist parties have begun promoting products made from cow urine and dung as cures for everything from cancer to acne.

The cow is a sacred symbol to India’s 800 million Hindus, and parties often use them as a symbol to further their political goals.

Now, party members are capitalizing on the belief that cow products have therapeutic value.

Their products include a potion made of urine that’s supposed to fight cancer and a pill that they say cures liver diseases, diabetes and hemorrhoids.

However, some experts question the medical benefits of the byproducts. One retired government scientist said “much more needs to be done” before people can consider the products effective.
