Does your car have a place in your heart?
Durban - More than half of South African drivers talk to their cars and even more think this helps to form a relationship with the vehicle.
An internet survey by Auto & General found that 60 percent of South African drivers acknowledged that they talked to their cars to improve their performance.
And 51 percent believed their car responded by being more reliable.
Also, 79 percent of drivers believed that having a good relationship with their car was the key to their confidence on the road.
Angelo Haggiyannes, director of Auto & General, said: “The results show many drivers think of their cars in almost human terms and believe that a few words of encouragement or a pat on the dashboard can help keep them going.
“In reality, though, many breakdowns are the result of poor maintenance.”
