Greedy Squirrel Too Fat To Make A Getaway

A hungry squirrel sneaked into a bird feeder to steal some nuts - but found himself stuck when was too fat to get out.

He managed to squeeze through the narrow metal mesh bird feeder and feast on the nuts inside but after eating too much but became wedged in the bars.

As he struggled the spherical feeder toppled off the wooden pole and fell about 8m down to the ground. The feeder started rolling towards a stream, but luckily it stopped short of the water before he was spotted by two local woman.

Liz Loftus from Bideford, Devon and her daughter Fiona, 19, rescued the squirrel, reports say.

Fiona said: “We spotted him climbing up the pole and scurrying around trying to find a way in.”

The squirrel was taken to a local vet and within an hour he was fine.
