Man Finds Roofers Stripping His Roof Instead Of Neighbor's

AMITY HARBOR, N.Y. - Imagine coming home and finding a contractor stripping off your roof and you never hired him. It happened in Amity Harbor, Long Island, on Dec. 18 to Jim Sullivan.

Apparently his neighbor hired Babe Roof Company, but the company got the address wrong and began working on the wrong house.

The owner of Babe Roof Company, Chris Streames, offered to fix Sullivan’s roof. But when the roofers only replaced the portion that had been stripped off, Sullivan noticed the shingles didn’t match and he wanted his entire roof redone. The contractor said that would cost $1,200, and babe Roof Company stopped its work.

Suffolk County Consumer Affairs is mediating the dispute. The Consumer Affairs office said Babe Roof Company is licensed and has a clean record.
