Mom Abandons Girl, 3, In Woods To Teach Her How To Survive

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - A 21-year-old mother in Central Florida was arrested after she told police she abandoned her 3-year-old in the woods to teach the child how to survive and become more independent in the world, according to Local 6 News.

Police said homeowner Brian Carter found the child face down and groaning on the Eagle Creek Golf Course after the mother, Krissie Glover, knocked on his door at 4 a.m. Thursday looking for help after her car became stranded in south Orange County.

Carter found the toddler dying of hypothermia - her body had dropped to 84 degrees. The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention considers a body temperature below 86 degrees as severe hypothermia and life-threatening, according to a report.

When investigators questioned Glover as to why the girl had been left out in the cold in some woods, she said she wanted to teach the girl a lesson.
